NEW AWARD THIS YEAR – THE PARTNERSHIP AWARD

This year a new and exciting award has been added to the Community awards– the Partnership Award, which is sponsored by Birchall Blackburn Law, which recognises examples of collaboration by groups and organisations that have resulted in outstanding outcomes.

Open to projects and organisations from across South Ribble the ‘Partnership Award’ recognises examples of collaborative working that have delivered outstanding outcomes.

Our awards are about recognising all the positive contributions made by the people in our community.

They may be the ones with tireless energy, volunteering to help people without any ask for reward. It may be someone who is an inspiration to you for their dedication to a causeFrom our 6 categories we are now busy looking at all the entries and making the hard decisions on who this year’s winners are.

Volunteer of the Year Category

For an individual who gives freely and unselfishly of his or her time to help others

This might be someone that has given their time and energy to support a local voluntary, community or faith sector group; to care for someone in their local community; or to get involved in a community project.

Nominee must be 25 years of age or older

Young Volunteer of the Year Category

For young people up to 24 years old; awarded to an individual for the best positive contribution to their community or the borough in general

This might be someone that has given their time and energy to support a local voluntary, community or faith sector group; to care for someone in their local community; or to get involved in a community project.

Business in the Community Category

For a business that actively supports their local community through positive action; going the extra mile to demonstrate its commitment to supporting South Ribble and its communities.

This could include businesses that have got involved in supporting local good causes and community projects; got involved in the regeneration of their local high street/town; or supported other community groups/organisations by giving their time and expertise.

Community Impact Category

For a voluntary, community or faith organisation that has made an amazing contribution to the communities of South Ribble.

The panel will look for organisations that involve and engage local people in their activities; that support volunteers and that deliver real benefits to local people.

Organisations do not have to be based in South Ribble, but must deliver projects/services in the borough for the benefit of South Ribble residents.

Special Achievement Category

For an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to our borough.

This award will recognise an individual that has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a positive impact in South Ribble. They could come from any sector – public, private or community. The award seeks to highlight that individual who is prepared to roll up their sleeves and put in sheer grit, determination and hard work to make a positive impact to South Ribble.

Spirit in the Community Category

For an individual who inspires you as a hero, a leader or a simply just an amazing person on account of the way they contribute to community life

This award recognises the individual who may or may not be part of a particular group, but who you think demonstrates daily through small actions a real commitment to the community in which they live. They may for example be the person who always checks in on their neighbour or who picks up the litter along the street. It could be anyone or anything…who is your community hero?
