Big Do 2014

Big Do started in 2013 and was an idea to test a new type of networking event. The concept was to break down sector silos and have one networking event for all types of organisations based or working in South Ribble.

Big Do is for businesses large and small; for charities, community groups and faith organisations; for councils, health & wellbeing providers and uniformed services. In other words, if you’re in South Ribble, Big Do is for you.

Big Do 2014

The area’s biggest networking event of 2014 bringing together business, community and public sector organisations in South Ribble for a huge networking-fest of a Big Do, took place on 5th June at the Samlesbury Hotel.

Over 200 people came and the atmosphere was buzzing with energy. Many who came got to make new contacts and meet many businesses and local organisations.

Ron Augusytn, managing director of Leyland Trucks was there to talk about networking building and gave a few tips on the best way to make new connections. Sharon Jones, from Samlesbury Hall spoke about their experience of apprentices and how they can benefit both the organisation and the individual.

The MarketPlace was swamped with promotional material from those businesses and organisations that attended. We ran out of space and will be looking to expand this next year so that there is room a plenty.

As part of the evening, ‘The South Ribble Community Awards’ were presented by the Mayor of South Ribble to this years winners.

There is a tremendous amount of good work undertaken by volunteers in South Ribble and it was great to be able to recognise the achievements of those people and organisations that have made a real difference to the local community.
